April 2009 Sterling Building Systems is delighted to welcome James Wallace as Package Manager, joining the team to primarily manager Dudbridge Science centre for which Sterling is the main contractor.

20th September 2008 - Nicola Whateley Rejoins Sterling Everyone at Sterling was delighted to see the return of Nicola Whateley to the company as Accounts Coordinator.  Nicola has taken over from Paul Easden in the company accounts department.
15th September 2008 - Company Promotions! Jo Collins has been given the new title of Construction Co-Coordinator.  She will now be responsible for the smooth running of the companies’ construction department Simon Rae & Philip Bailey have both been promoted to Project Managers from Site Supervisors.  Congratulations to them both!

1st August 2008 - Supply Chain Strategy Sterling Building Systems has once again finalised the continuation of its supply chain strategy.  Renewed trading agreements have been negotiated and agreed for 2008/9
Darren Cutler Achieves BSc Darren the companies’ Senior Estimator has just learned he has been awarded a 2.1 in his Bachelor of Science with Honours Degree in Construction Management.  Our warmest congratulations go to Darren Cutler (BSc) who has worked so hard over the last four years to achieve this academic recognition.

NFRC Excellence in Roofing Awards At the NFRC Awards in Cardiff on the 16th May 2008, Sterling Building Systems were delighted to have been awarded the winner of the Green Roof Category for Shortwood Primary School.
We were also proud to have been awarded the ‘NFRC Best Entry in the Safety in Roofing Awards’ View Certificate

18001 OHSAS Accreditation Sterling Building Systems of Bromsgrove is one of the few roofing contractors in the country to be awarded OHSAS 18001 Health and Safety Accreditation. NRFC Safety in Roofing Awards

Some new office faces!

Jo and Annie are delighted to welcome Kerry Meah and Harriet Westwood to join them in the Administration Department. 
Kerry is our new Purchasing Administrator and Harriett is Office Administrator.
Jo who has been promoted to Senior Administrator, will continue to concentrate on the Construction Department activities and the co-ordination of training requirements.

Christmas Card Fund 2007

This year, for a change we decided to do something different and purchased a scooter from ‘Shopmobility Worcester’ in memory of Mark Wallace’s mother ‘Jean Wallace’. We used the fund we would usually buy Christmas cards for our Suppliers & Customers with.

Teamkal Awards 2007

This year 6 members of staff attended the Corus Teamkal Conference and Awards Dinner.

We were really pleased to be awarded highly Commended ‘Best Kalzip Project Under 1500m2’ for a Leadbitter Construction job called Backwell School in Bristol.

Sterling Building Systems were also recognised for ‘Personality of the Year’ which was awarded to our Health and Safety consultant Clive Johnson.

6th September 2007 - Topping Out at Failsworth School

Sterling Building Systems were invited to celebrate the ‘Topping Out’ at Failsworth School. Members of the office based staff that joined the party at the Broadoak Hotel in Oldham also visited the site to see the fantastic progress that had been made there.

2007 RIBA Award Winner - Bedford School of Music

“RIBA Awards take place annually and are given to buildings that have high architectural standards and are environmental friendly. Eric Parry Architects received this prestigious award for ‘Bedford School of Music’ which Sterling Building Systems had the pleasure of installing this costly, hard wearing, yet aseptically pleasing to the eye Falzinc roof.”

This project is most definitely becoming the most enduring and challenging of projects for all the Sterling team involved, it is considered to be the highest roof in England and Wales with extremely high wind speeds and terrible weather conditions.

Sterling Building Systems, Corus Building Systems and Corus Panels & Profiles recently all got together for an afternoon of Clay Pigeon shooting at the Hereford & Worcester Shooting Ground.

A great day was had by all at this yearly event.

‘ In May 2006, Sterling Building System’s Contract Supervisor, Simon Rae, was awarded the NFRC Safety Personality of the Year for 2005, at the NFRC’s annual award ceremony, held this year at Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.
The NFRC were impressed by Simon’s commitment to Health & Safety, demonstrated particularly by his achievements at Backwell School, Bristol for Leadbitter Construction, where a complex project required an extremely detailed Health and Safety Plan as well as meticulous planning and sequencing of the works. ‘
